COLUMBIA’S RESPONSE TO COVID-19
Many of Columbia’s projects, and those of other contractors nationwide, have been deemed essential infrastructure by local and state governments and we continue to operate according to government guidelines and mandates to protect our employees on site and our subcontractors and vendors. Protecting our workforce and enabling our trade partners to put their crews to work in a safe, controlled, and healthy environment is paramount and we do this by following proper protocols for physical distancing, hand hygiene, and cleaning work areas.
We take every precaution to minimize the risk of infection on our jobsites and we have implemented numerous preventative strategies as part of our overall COVID-19 management plan to include:
○ Providing appropriate sanitizing products and masks at each location;
○ No touching nose, mouth, and eyes;
○ No handshaking or other close contact and requiring frequent hand washing;
○ Covering mouth and nose with a tissue or elbow when coughing or sneezing;
○ Maintaining a safe, 6’ distance from others.
Educate workforce on the symptoms of COVID-19
Require individuals who are sick to stay home
Encourage high-risk individuals to stay home
Perform cleaning of frequently touched surfaces, portable toilets, and shared tools on the site
Implement measures for physical/social distancing including spreading out work as much as possible, deploying a rotational telework plan for management staff, and encouraging workforce to minimize close contact (within 6’ of others) to the greatest extent possible
Immediate notification to management is required if anyone on the project has:
Tested positive for COVID-19
Had close contact with someone known to have tested positive for COVID-19
Protocols have been established in accordance with CDC and OSHA recommendations to address a confirm cases of COVID-19 on a jobsite or in our offices, allowing on one member of admin team to occupy the office at a time, and requiring disinfecting all surfaces each day after use, if applicable.
This situation is ever-evolving and we are actively monitoring new developments. Columbia remains fully committed to operating in accordance with the guidelines set forth by national industry and health authorities and local health agencies.
